Melding the rich tonal beauty of classical guitar, viola, and violin, Hilary Field and Gwen Franz offer an evocative palette of music that transcends generations and crosses musical boundaries. The lyrical beauty of this music spans from Brazil to Bach, from the elegance of Baroque suites and sonatas, to the colorful and exciting rhythms of Latin and Afro-Brazilian sambas, choros, and tangos.
The duo's debut recording, Airoso, is due to be released in April, 2013.

Christine Lavin continues to find songs hidden everywhere -- in newspaper articles about fireflies, in overheard conversations between pinheads in an airport, watching teenagers compete in the national spelling bee, reading the works of H.L. Mencken. Her songs are sung by Broadway stars Sutton Foster and Betty Buckley, the a cappella darlings The Accidentals, and her lyrics showed up this year in the book THE PLUTO FILES: THE RISE AND FALL OF AMERICA'S FAVORITE PLANET, written by Neil DeGrasse Tyson, director of New York's Hayden Planetarium. Christine's first book, Cold Pizza For Breakfast: A Mem-wha?? was published in 2010, with a foreword written by actor Jeff Daniels.
As The Washington Post says, "Lavin knows how to keep her audience guessing, thinking, and laughing all at the same time."

Matt Price doesn't have the patience to write a screenplay. But give him 3:55 and both your ears and he'll weave a tale as deeply textured as a classic novel or as intricate as a film noir masterpiece. You'll walk away with images that will stick for a lifetime. And a nearly-full tub of popcorn...
Christine Lavin says, "The best new songwriter of 2007... Matt is a really fine poet, but also a terrific singer and guitarist - his style is hard to pidgeon-hole - his songs are like mini-movies, beautifully crafted, like Cheryl Wheeler's, with appeal that crosses all genres..."

Welcome to the Music Downloads section of the store. Over the next few months, we're planning on having download options for most of our releases, starting with the latest. For now, songs will be available only as mp3 files, at 256 kb/s bitrate. Entire albums will be compressed into single zipped folders. Let us know if you think a different format would work better.
In addition to our regular catalog, here's where we'll be releasing those rare tracks, unreleased recordings, your "missing song" requests . . . We'll try to have something new each month . . . maybe even some of those live Uncle Bonsai recordings we've talked about for so long!

We've been releasing recordings since 1991 and we're incredibly proud of the music we've been able to offer. Still, we realize that there are other discs out there and, every once in a while, one comes along that we feel deserves some extra attention. Maybe it's something by Miles & Karina, who released their first disc on Yellow Tail but have gone on to produce some other wonderful recordings; maybe it's Christine Lavin, who has an overflowing catalog of great music released long before she joined us. Right now, we're offering copies of David Lange's: Almost Home, an amazing instrumental release that Uncle Bonsai's been using as its pre-show and intermission music. As with all our Yellow Tail releases, we stand behind our recommendations and offer a full refund should you not like what you purchase...take a chance, you have nothing to lose!
